Panganiban | Tuesday, 26 May 2009 19:28 MANY car lovers have automobiles that they would love to restore to pristine condition from the bodyline to the paint job to the engine and, of course, to the interior. Much of the restoration process is quite easy, but the interior is one mother of a job. Well, there is a guy in town who is more than capable of doing wonders on any interior and even customizing exterior parts. His name is Babes Rojas and he works out of his shop called Leder Interia, which is located in the Scout Area of Quezon City. History told this writer that Rojas began his business after his family’s leather craft business ran into trouble and they had to rethink their business model. Rojas told this writer that one of his friends suggested that he harness his passion for cars and divert the core business to refurbishing or building car interiors. Taking a cue from his pal, Rojas took the proverbial leap of faith and began restoring the interiors of his friends’ vintage cars by repairing torn seats and door paneling. “Actually I began with my own car, our old Mercedes-Benz. When friends saw this, they asked me if I could do their cars also. So, the shift began,” Rojas narrated. BLAST FROM THE PAST Interior of 1972 Toyota Celica Classic worked on by Leder Interia. Now, Rojas is a provider of OEM interiors to some major auto manufacturers in the Philippines and is a favorite of auto enthusiasts who want their cars’ interiors restored to an almost original condition. He, thus, earned the moniker of “Leather Man.” Rojas’s reputation has reached such an extent that his shop is full of restoration jobs that include an auto made mostly out of wood, ’50s and ’60s vintage cars, and modern tuner cars whose owners want a better look. Leder Interia also specializes in soft tops or what this writer’s son, Robby, calls a “top down.” Rojas stressed, “We basically bring back the luster and quality of the soft top. We have the materials and the equipment to do this kind of restoration.” As a veteran of 35 years in the leather-making industry, Leder Interia’s level of craftsmanship is equal to none. “We have developed a certain level of quality down the years. Our loyal client base, awards and accolades are testaments to our commitment to quality workmanship,” says the man behind Leder Interia. Aside from mastering the art of customized leather interiors, the company has also perfected the art of reconditioning wood, aluminum and metal interior finishes. “We can restore the luster and look of your faded wood dashboard panels, consoles and door trims,” says Rojas, who has even concocted a secret formula that is used to restore cracked or faded wood panelings to their original state. “It’s a hit among old school and classic cars. We also have the technology to chrome finish rubber and plastic,” Rojas added. Rojas may be contacted at 396-2262, 374-3013 or 0917-5269651. Log on to www.lederinteria.com or send email to \n
